Odyssey Academy’s middle school students participated in the Scripps National Spelling Bee this past December. The middle school students were divided into grade levels and first participated in individual class bees. The classroom spelling bees consisted of oral and written spelling and vocabulary contests. Each grade levels top spellers, from the spelling and vocabulary bee, advanced to the school spelling bee. A total of nine middle school students prepared for the school spelling bee by studying 450 words. These words were provided by the Scripps National Bee Association. The school spelling bee took place in our school media center on December 19, 2014. Our students were very excited! All of Odyssey's middle school students were present for this great event as well as their parents, administration, guests, and many more. It was a huge success. This event truly displayed Odyssey’s family like environment. All nine participants were cheered on and supported by their peers. The winner of Odyssey’s school spelling bee is Fatoumata. Fatoumata is a 6th grade student who will be moving on to the next level in the Scripps National Spelling Bee! Good luck Fatoumata!
