Academic Programs

Odyssey provides daily opportunities for our students to learn and grow; they receive excellent instruction by licensed teachers in the areas of music, physical education, media, Spanish, special education, English as a Second Language, Reading Recovery, Title I, and after school academic support.

Odyssey Academy is proud of the professional qualifications of our staff. Parents of students who attend Odyssey Academy have the right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of any teacher employed by the school. If, for any reason, your child is being taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not highly qualified you will be notified by the school.

Attendance

  • School is in session 7:50 a.m. - 2:40 p.m. each day. 
  • To report an absence, please call the attendance office at 763-549-2388.
  • Students who arrive late or leave early must be signed in and out of the office by a parent.

Extra Curricular Activities & Guidelines

Students are able to attend many activities after school in collaboration with Brooklyn Center area schools. Our Guidelines for Extra Curricular Activities and Athletics can be found on the Parent & Student Documents page.

Health Office

Odyssey Academy cares about the health and well being of your student. If you have questions about your child's health and development, please feel free to contact our health paraprofessional.

Kids' Club

Odyssey Academy Kids' Club offers before and after school child care.  The mission of Odyssey Kids' Club is to provide a safe, fun and educational experience for every child.

Admissions/Enrollment

Odyssey Academy enrolls students on a first come, first served basis. When a classroom is full, prospective students are placed on a waiting list and openings are filled using a lottery system. 

If you would like to enroll your child at Odyssey Academy, please fill out a registration form [see Parent & Student Documents] and mail or fax it to us.

Athletics

Odyssey Academy works in cooperation with Brooklyn Center High School to provide middle school students with the opportunity to participate in team sports. Odyssey students must meet specified academic and behavior expectations if they wish to participate in team sports at Brooklyn Center High School. Our Guidelines for Extra Curricular Activities and Athletics can be found on the Parent & Student Documents page.

Transportation

Our transportation is provided by Osseo Transportation. If you have issues with transportation please contact Kari Mitchell, our transportation coordinator at 763-549-2386. Please do not contact our provider directly.

Students are expected to be at their assigned stop at least five minutes before the expected arrival of the bus. Supervision of students at bus stops before and after school is the responsibility of parents/guardians. Click here for more information about our transportation policies.

Students are expected to ride their assigned bus each day. If a student wishes to ride a bus home with a friend, written permission must be presented in the school office before the start of the school day.
